Some people prefer making presents themselves, whereas others prefer to buy them.

I think that it is better to buy a present. First of all, one has more possibilities to make the person happy. If the he or she gets what they really want, they feel satisfied. Second, it is faster. Knowing well what the person wants, one can search it on the Internet and order it for them. It is also possible to give them a gift card – a card with some amount of money in it that the birthday person can spend on whatever he or she wants.

At the same time there are people who say that if one makes a present with their own hands the person who is going to get it will be much happier. There is a part of giver's soul in such things. When people see how much energy, time and care one put into making the present they will feel very pleased.

I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above for a particular reason. It is really pleasant to get a hand-made present, however, it is not an easy thing to do, and not everybody can do it. One has to be good at making things with their own hands. People's abilities have to be aligned with the interests of the person they want to please, which is a hard thing to do.

In conclusion I would like to say that a hand-made present would make a perfect gift but in reality this rarely happens. Thus, I think that people should be practical and give something that could be useful to the person they want to please and that  will not take days of making.
