Comment on the following statement:

Some people believe that 'travel broadens the mind'. They believe that when you travel to other places, you experience new things and learn from them. Other people, however, argue that most people who go on holiday to other countries just lie on a beach for two weeks and don't experience the local culture at all.

What is your opinion? Do you agree with this statement?
Write 200-250 words.
Use the following plan:
—    make an introduction (state the problem)
—    express your personal opinion and give 2-3 reasons for your opinion
—    express an opposing opinion and give 1-2 reasons for this opposing opinion
—   explain why you don't agree with the opposing opinion
—    make a conclusion restating your position

Some people think that traveling broadens one’s mind, whereas others believe that it does not because all that these travelers do is lie on a beach.

I think that traveling definitely enriches people's knowledge about the world. The only question is, to what extent, and that everyone has to decide that for themselves. First of all, a lot of people travel specifically to learn more about new countries and their cultures. Second, they even learn new languages to get a better experience. If one’s goal for a trip is just to relax on a beach and get a tan, they will learn a country’s culture only a little.

At the same time there are those who believe that some people do not experience the local culture at all. They stay in their hotels, go to the beach, eat in restaurants and that is it. Some of them do not even bother to learn how to say “thank you” in the country’s language.

I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above for a particular reason. Obviously, if a person does not want to experience the local culture, you can not force it upon him or her. Nevertheless, whether he or she wants it or not, they do experience it. They see the architecture, the locals, how they are dressed and interact with each other. It is not a lot, but it is not nothing either.

In conclusion, I would like to say that traveling is one of the best and most pleasant ways of learning about other cultures that anyone might ever experience.  I strongly believe we should make the best use of trips and learn as much as possible. Thus, travels are a great way to broaden one's mind and learn about other cultures.

In conclusionI would like to say that there are opposing views on this issue. At first sight traveling might seem useless in terms of learning about new countries but in actual fact it is one of the best and most pleasant ways of expanding one’s knowledge about the world. Thus, travels are a great way to broaden one's mind and learn more about other cultures.
